Update on painting the house

As you know I have been off since last Friday. We had a yard sale on Friday and Saturday and I started painting the house on Sunday. Thank God that Nick got the house started when he was off from work.

OK so there are still 3 very big sides that are in need of painting but...
The front porch and the wall to the left are both done!!!
Hmmm... So is this area- Nick was putting the shutters back up.
And the back of the house is done too.
It has been a long and busy week off so far but it is nice to see the changes that are occurring with the house. Stay posted- more to come but we are camping for the Memorial Day weekend so if the 3 big sides don't get done before I go back to work then we will just have to work on them when there is time.

Boomer- Is that you?

Well- Does Boomer look like he needs a haircut? I thought so too so we took him to the groomer and she introduced us to what is called the "Puppy cut". She said it would help him stay cool during the summer and to prevent burrs from clinging to his fur. It would also be less brushing for me- which we are used to doing on a daily basis so we decided to try it. Take a look!

Holy smokes! What kind of dog is that? An Old English sheepdog or a poodle? As you can see Nick was just as surprised as the rest of us.

After a day like Boomer had he was in need of a drink!

This is Boomer in the camper. He has claimed the couch as his spot.
Does he look just plain silly or what?

He does look cute close up but we can't decide if his ears make him look Dutch or Amish.
What do you think?

The project of the season

So... We decided that our spring project would be to paint the house. Not a small project but since Nick has been off of work (varicose vein surgery) and bored he decided to get started.

Starting May 21 I will be off for 11 days so I will be doing a lot of the detail work then. I am also doing a 2 day yard sale and Memorial day cmaping during that time so it will be BUSY!

Nick has done a great job of getting the big areas done, but he is not one for the detail work or heights so that's my job.

The house will be changing from grey to a green with white trim and tan accents (shutters, front of the porch, etc.) so this is going to be a big change for us!

Years ago Nick painted the front of the porch red while we were painting the barn. That area will soon be changed to a tan that will help pull the colors of the roof shingles out.

Notice that the inside of the porch is now green and so is the lower portion of the wall to the right but looking higher... you see the areas that I will need to work on.

The lower portion of the walls around the deck will have wood around it. It should add a nice accent.

Nick made it to the top of this peak but the higher ones will be my job.
Although I love to see the changes that we are making in the house I am sure that I will be looking forward to going back to work after a week of painting! That's just wrong!!!
I am sure happy that Nick got a lot of the bigger areas done while he was off work though.
Obviously we are not done painting yet so we will keep you posted on our progress as we go!
